“I was born in a small town in Manipur, India. And growing up especially in a small town, there’s a lot of stigma to what men should wear or not, and how men should behave in a particular way. There’s always a societal norm that rather suffocates me and sure enough, would be suffocating for a lot of men out there. I had that in mind when I created this story which included the juxtaposition of Manipuri tradition, otherwise not associated with men of our culture, and to question the society; isn’t it high time we end this stigma? So, I ask them if they can just let people be what and how they want to be and join a hand to take this leap of liberation with me.” *Robertson Thiyam
