#ModaLisboa – All photos by Emil Husaint. Carolina Machado’s Spring/Summer 2023 inspiration comes from the nostalgia for 90’s minimalism. The collection features monochromatic looks with soft touches of colour, exploring the tension between masculine tailoring and feminine delicacy, playing with the contrast of fabrics, transparencies, and textures, and resulting in a functional and versatile wardrobe for the contemporary woman.
Knitted pieces punctuate the collection, silhouettes contrast in height and the materials are natural and/or sustainable, such as linen, organic cotton, recycled polyester and synthetic leather in beige, black, white, brown and silver.
From an early age, Carolina Machado‘s (Leiria, 1994) taste for fashion, art and design defines her academic career. Carolina started her training in Visual Arts in 2009 and in 2012 she moved to Oporto to study Fashion Design at ESAD, in Matosinhos, graduating in June 2015.
In October of 2015, she presented her collection at the Sangue Novo – ModaLisboa’s Young Designers Competition and In 2016 she launched her womenswear brand, where she currently works. In October 2017, she integrated ModaLisboa’s LAB platform.
