CONSTANÇA ENTRUDO Spring/Summer 2019 CONNECTIONS

#ModaLisboa – LAB! We are in Love with Constança Entrudo. A Portuguese born textile designer based in Paris. Immediately after graduating from her BA Textile Design at Central Saint Martins, Constança Entrudo launched her label in 2017 with a Spring Summer 18 presentation at Lisbon Fashion Week. Recently she has moved to Paris to work for Balmain as well as on her own label. All of Constança’s pieces are gender neutral and ageless.

CONNECTIONS

This collection is inspired by Anne Colliers’ artwork Questions (Connection), exploring the idea that ‘a question is an answer but an answer is not a question’ and the importance of making questions throughout Constança’s work. She keeps asking questions to keep creativity and possibilities going, drawing us into her own perspective.

Constança Entrudo’s point is to challenge established codes of what represents the fashionable body through strategies of parody, humour, and inversion – always including an element of performance. The designer is highly inspired by performance artists such as Erwin Wurm and Franz West.

All the pieces are genderless and connected in a way. First through buttons (a collaboration with the jewellery designer Colomb D’Humieres) made of many different materials, found in the most different places, and which are the most important element of this collection. These buttons connect different pieces together making most of the collection become deconstructable and gives the wearer the possibility of wearing them in more than two different ways, as a game or a puzzle. The collaborations are also essential in her work as Constança invites other designers, artists and writers to join her creative approach. They mean a very strong connection with people from different backgrounds countries and fields that she feels connected to in some kind of way.

Through the act of repetition in the show, as a live performance, the viewer drags the attention to the pieces deconstruction and all its details in a different way.
