Zuzu Valla defines her recognisable signature style, as exploring multiple layers of distinctive human beauty, focusing mainly on fashion, portraiture and commercial photography. She likes to push the boundaries of the industry and magazines regarding beauty standards, often working with models with disabilities. Her work has been exhibited in Paris, London, Hungary, Iran, Spain and Slovakia.
About the project:
“Drawing Cabaret Couture, collaborate closely with some of the most talented individuals in the dance and fashion industry. Their partnerships span leading and emerging fashion designers, agency models, professional dancers, photographers, filmmakers, stylists, and set designers. Together, they bring visually stunning concepts to life, offering artists and photographers high-quality classes and access to beautiful original resource material.
In this session, we delve into the artistry of three brand-new Haute Couture garments, masterfully crafted by Drew Kent, a knitwear student at Central Saint Martins.
Drew’s high couture crochet collection features recycled elasticated sequins and yarn, showcasing a novel technique he developed. Each look is a fusion of couture and fashion, embodying the essence of Drew’s innovative approach that seamlessly integrates elasticated sequins into crochet.
This collection is a testament to my ongoing commitment to drawing inspiration from queer history. For this particular series, my creative wellspring was the vibrant world of club kid couture, resulting in a collection that pays homage to its influences’ bold and eclectic spirit.”
