#Lookbook – GOOMHEO disrupts the tranquillity of seaside bliss with “Dystopian Beach”: a brutal collision of traditional, though provocative, design and an apocalyptic fever dream. The Lookbook was shot by Heji Shin and styled by Gerry O’Kane.
Carrying forward a modern, unrestrained approach to menswear, Goom Heo was initially inspired by the styles found in Swiss photographer Karlheinz Weinberger’s subversive works in the 1950s and ’60s.
Often, he captured teenage rebels and misfits with cigarettes hanging from mouths, jeans pulled high and vacant expressions. The defiant attitudes of the subjects formed the basis of the collection; a shunning of conventionality, while encouraging rule-breaking.
