Lazoschmidl has stolen the show at Paris Fashion Week with the new Spring/Summer 2024 collection. The collection follows a couple’s romantic getaway, from boarding to pool time, from seafood dinner at the beach to skinny dipping under the crescent moon. The protagonists are enveloped in an air of lightness and nonchalance, effortlessly enjoying each other’s company while wearing sheer, soft, and short clothing.
The collection features a variety of outfits, including striped bathing suits, crochet ensembles, and snug tops that evoke feelings of nostalgia. However, the futuristic element cannot be denied, with hi-tech fibres suggesting a utopian future in a world that is yet to exist.
The dreamy “gaycation” sets the tone for the collection, featuring upcycled fight jackets and hybrid denim hotpants with an open fly and sewn-in swimwear. Adding a touch of magic and enchantment, AI-generated artworks draw from the symbolism of a cliche-ridden love novel.
As always, Lazoschmidl develops each collection through writing. However, for the Spring/Summer 2024 collection, their approach takes things one step further. Words describing the scenery are fed into a supercomputer, turning ideas into trip-like renderings. Is this just fantasy? Perhaps. But it certainly made for a standout collection at Paris Fashion Week.
