Second Round is the name of Luca Cantarelli’s first gender-neutral jewellery collection. The line comprises 12 sports-inspired pieces, handcrafted in Italy using sterling silver, colourful enamel and precious stones. The name of the collection honours the designer’s life and reinvention upon moving to Milan to follow his dreams. Second Round stands for both the designer’s second chance as well as Italy’s second chance after the Pandemic lockdown.
Hoops and stud earrings, pendants, tag bracelets, cocktail rings or chevalier; all jewellery is gender-neutral and cross-generational. The dominant colours of the sterling silver collection are vibrant blue, white and black enamel, with touches of green, yellow and red from the precious and natural stones.
The production follows the highest standards of craftsmanship, with a local manufacturer operating in Valenza since 1947.
Sterling silver is obtained by reclaimed silver; enamels are applied by hand using an old technique, the piece is fired and is then polished until smooth. We source our gems directly from the miners cutting out any third party in order to verify their ethical standards. The natural stones include sapphires, quartz, malachite, garnet.
Evoking the second round of a sports event, the collection not only symbolizes the designer’s new beginning but the second chances we might all have in our lives.
Luca Cantarelli was born and raised in Sardinia, he has been living and working in Milan since 2012. Luca started his artistic journey very young, surrounded by many of his family members who are writers, painters, sculptors and singers. Luca was 18 and attending University in Cagliari when he discovered his love for Design through painting. Although very unique, his vibrant style was inspired by comics and pop culture.
After obtaining his law degree, Luca studied Design and entered the world of fashion in 2012. For three years Luca worked with well-known brands and built core competencies and connections within the industry. From there Luca re-focused his talent on jewellery design, contributing to the rebranding of a well-known designer in Milan.
It was during the 2020 lockdown that Luca started designing his own collection which features genuine silver and natural stones. The Luca Cantarelly brand is like no other in Italy, incorporating street style and sportswear elements. Disrupting all traditional standards, the pieces marry true Italian craftsmanship with lines that are young and trendy.
