MARSÈLL FOR ROTATE S/S 2022

#CopenhagenFashionWeek – “Intrigued by ROTATE’s approach to clothing and style, Marsèll, the Italian footwear brand known for its avant-garde take on traditional craft, offered the Danish brand some of its most iconic creations to complete the looks of the S/S22 collection. From the “Micarro” ankle boots to the “Carretta” beatles, from the “Carretta” boots to the “Zuccone”, all styles selected for the show are quintessential Marsèll with their gender-neutral aesthetic, their utilarian edge and their penchant for oversized soles”.

ROTATE presented its SS22 show at Copenhagen Fashion Week. The Danish fashion brand unveils a fast-paced fashion show with models all emerging from vintage sports cars parked on the runway before walking out in the brand’s signature bold and high glam garments. The fast cars provide a raw and masculine contrast to the collection where the delicately feminine meets the brand’s signature high-octane cool glamour. Proving their affinity for playing with this contrast, ROTATE’s eye-catching shapes and bold glamour are fused with both masculine elements such as denim and sharp tailoring, and fabrics with a quirky quality like quilts and crocheted pieces.

For this season ROTATE’s Creative Directors Thora Valdimarsdottir and Jeanette Madsen found inspiration in Fran Drescher’s character Frane Fine from the 90s sitcom The Nanny: “Fran Fine is one of our all-time favorite style icons and an object of our 90s nostalgia which was a big inspiration for this collection. Fran is the embodiment of everyday glamour, from her loud prints, tight miniskirts, and big fur coats worn over colorful two-pieces, everything about her is excessive yet undeniably chic and modern. This season, we wanted to strike this balance between over-the-top glamour and a more subtle sexy feel, a line that Fran Fine toes so perfectly. Rewatching The Nanny made us fall back in love with the glamorous side of the 90s, infused with a touch of 70s disco-glam.

After a tumultuous couple of years, we are excited to bring the focus back to statement dresses for SS22. Think sequins, short hemlines, and new shapes in stretchy fabrics with nineties-esque cutouts. The billowing sleeves and puffy shoulders will make you want to dance, as will our flared striped sequin pants and jumpsuit, while new denim styles and outerwear pieces will easily add versatility to your wardrobe. The collection is occasion-driven, but if recent years have taught us anything, it’s that any event can be an occasion to dress up.”
