Requiem for a Dream! A Multidisciplinary Debut: Ćosić and Storrveldi Fuse Sustainable Couture and Performance at Clärchens Ballroom

On July 4th, 2026, emerging designers Ida Ćosić (Ćosić) and Stjorn Revali (Storrveldi) made their joint Berlin Fashion Week debut with Requiem for a Dream. Held at the historic Clärchens Ballroom, the independent, self-financed presentation successfully moved away from the traditional runway format, merging sustainable couture with live music, burlesque, and classical ballet into an immersive theatrical experience.

The production functioned as a conceptual critique of the contemporary world order, exploring themes of collective silence and digital isolation. This narrative was translated into a dual-layered presentation that contrasted structured, fantastical silhouettes with fluid movement. Spanning a close creative mentorship, the 20-year-old Berlin-born Ćosić and 24-year-old London-based Revali presented distinct collections bound by a shared commitment to sustainable practices. Both designers relied heavily on second-hand sourcing, recycled textiles, and upcycled materials, proving that avant-garde design and digital fabrication can coexist with environmental responsibility.

The atmosphere inside the venue was driven by an experimental live score from musicians Sultan Hlal and Theo Edinger, who utilised piano, violin, and accordion to channel the raw energy of a classic cabaret. Ballerinas from Iceland’s Ballet Axis and dedicated burlesque performers interacted directly with the space, breaking the fourth wall to integrate the garments into the choreography. Following a dramatic custom finale piece by Tobias Krüger, the presentation transitioned into a live vocal performance by Maria Roi before concluding in an avant-garde techno soundscape, a deliberate nod to Berlin’s cultural evolution from 1920s decadence to its modern electronic identity.
