PAN by Federico Luz & Anna Lugmeier

MODALISBOA COMUNIDADE – Workstation! A group of five people rehearse on a colossal 6x10m large hand-painted green screen, wearing scraps, experiments, traces, fragments that never made it onto a stage, and now they make it into the final cut of this video. An undefined space, in video work, cracks open. We could be anywhere: In a music video, in a video trailer, inside an abstract fashion film. The same applies to the matter: Is it a costume? Is it fashion? Is it garbage?

We step into the unknown, it is our Leitmotif, the gaze can travel. All that seems impossible right now is enabled to speak, gets a voice and a rhythm. Just like the song ‘Pan’, which calls upon the Greek god of spring and music to be its patron and protector, the creature between god and goat at the same time, half humanoid-bestiality, also we frequent ‘in-between’: we look at this interstice, we provoke and thus perform togetherness.
