“Can you imagine a world where the only visibility of yourself is violence, poverty, and continuous misrepresentation of your culture? As a youth growing into adulthood I looked all over media platforms seeking myself. Skin tones so vast we come from the darkest of nightly shades with diamonds sparkle on our skin. To the lightest of honey hues that Nourish the community. As a young black man, I meet exquisite men of colour whose teachings and caring demeanour enrich the informed youth of their history. It just baffled me that I never have seen the beauty of my people as examples on the many platforms that were brought to me. As an adult, I was plagued with the visuals of Black folks being terrorized. I had to change the narrative. I couldn’t continue to let little black boys and girls subject themselves as undeserving. To not see the beauty in oneself. So these visuals are Dedicated to the children like me seeking ourselves in the light.”
