The Society Archive, a stylist-curated retailer of rare vintage finds from fashion and accessories to books and art, is pleased to unveil “ Petrichor” – the brand’s debut at New York Fashion Week, which also served as the official grand opening of the retailer’s new by-appointment showroom in the South Street Seaport of lower Manhattan. The presentation, which took place on September 14th, fused a highly curated capsule of in-house designed ready-to-wear with a tightly edited selection of vintage highlights from the archive.

The brainchild of the runway and editorial stylist Marcus Allen, The Society Archive weaves a complex narrative capturing moments of past youth, viewed retrospectively outside of their contemporaneous context – the result being a covetable time capsule of seasonally curated selections of rare vintage and ephemera paired with a curated edit of closet must-haves from The Society Archive’s capsule collection of designs. The premiere offering is titled “Petrichor” – the pleasant smell that accompanies the first rain following a dry spell – and includes a selection of hard-to-find 1990s pieces and more recent limited releases, hand-selected and styled together as a cohesive collection.
