Video Premiere: Jen Awad – Moonlight

I am in LOVE with Peruvian Egyptian punk soul powerhouse Jen Awad and her new single: Moonlight. Jen Awad has been described as Los Angeles’ best-kept secret and now it is time for Jen to take the music world by storm.

Moonlight is the second track off of Jen’s first album “Existential Daydream” produced by Eric Jackowitz. Joshua Ray Gooch who has the play’s with iconic artists such as Shania Twain came up with some pretty Bolan worthy guitar riffs for this song and the whole album. Jen and Eric wanted this song to have a theatrical dreamy rock n roll feel to it automatically drawing the listener in. Jen wanted the audience to feel like you were eavesdropping on someone on the verge of a post break up meltdown.

Moonlight was never supposed to come out. It was a secret song I wrote as a bitter reaction to the one who broke my heart constantly bragging of his travels after we had called it quits.

I was mad that he could move on without me so easily while I was still living in the prison of “what went wrong?”. The song asks “was I so hard to love?’ he always made it seem that way but looking back he had put me through the ringer as well. This song was my personse to all of that It’s about two imperfect people who gave up on loving each other and both came out victoriously alone for it.

Vocal stylings compared to Tina Turner and Janis Joplin with the stage presence of Courtney Love and Lizzo. Jen’s live show is a glittery high energy sacred experience that you best set an intention for because her raw emotion will evoke whatever you’re feeling.

Side effects may include tears, excitement and incessant screaming.

Jen is set to release her first album “Existential Daydream” this summer;  A ’70s/´80s rock n roll wonderland that was conceived during covid in the confines of her living room along with musicians that played on it. The sounds of the record were inspired by ELO, Supertramp, Queen and The smiths. The songwriting of each track tells the tale of Jen’s misadventures in love and life and the time old question “who am I and why am I here?.
