KALTBLUT presents Mercanie, a fashion brand from Warsaw, Poland. Their debut collection “From Far-Off Lands” tells the story of romanticism of Eastern European culture, showing the idea of finding own personality, inner harmony and self-meaning. “We are clothing brand from Warsaw, but our story started from Ukraine where our team (Anton Martyniuk and Alina Voloshchuk) originally from. We are loving clothing for the hole our youth starting from skateboarding brands (in times when it was a huge wave in Ukraine culture) and till now searching for the new brands with some story and background. Because of the events that happened in Ukraine, after high school, we have gone to study in Warsaw. After some time, with a dream to create something that people will love, we’ve decided to found our brand, and as we’re not very experienced in this branch, we’ve started just with one shirt model, but the idea was to put different meanings in it.
In our times, people love to share values of different cultures and nationalities, so we took the inspiration for our debut collection “From Far-Off Lands” from Eastern Europe culture (especially 3 poems of the famous Russian poets: M.Lermontov “The Sail”, F.Tyutchev “Silentium!”, A.Pushkin “There is a green oak by the sea”) of the era of romanticism. With the sunset and beach vibe, we want to show our vision of what are those poems about discovering your own personality, searching for the dreams and to be open for something that could be strange at the first time, but afterwards could turn into something beautiful. So whole these meanings and ideas we’ve put on the pictures (drawn by our team artist) and printed them with parts of the poems on our shirts. The idea of unisex oversized architecture has come by itself when we thought about the word “freedom”, not only physical but also mental.
So we wish that our clothing could let people “highlight” their own individual value.”
