“We’re Babs and Martin of Irmfried (www.irmfried.com), based in Austria. Staging moments is the ground of our work, whether including the existing surrounding and atmosphere or building new sets. We love to add a portion of drama to our photos through an angle, playing with focal length and exposure time, fashion styling inspired by famous artwork or motivating the model to use strong facial expressions, poses or movement. Of course, we love light (by chance we discovered our love for light from the north sky, too), and whenever possible we put emphasis on natural light. We plan our shoots to be personally rewarding for the team, and then for the people who look at the results. We aim at room for interpretation for people to come up with a story behind. Our works are inspired by certain artworks of William-Adolphe Bouguereau, Lyonel Feininger, Jan Vermeer, John Singer Sargent, Edouard Manet, Georg Hendrik Breitner or Sydney Starr.
