In this art magazine-inspired showcase, Turgeman pays homage to the resilient and humble mushroom, highlighting its intelligence as a simple multicellular organism. These porous fungal structures possess an enigmatic communication system that enables them to distribute vital nutrients across extensive areas, ensuring the survival of individual plants. Fascinatingly, the depth of our understanding regarding this complex process remains limited.

Through Rooted Signals, Turgeman beautifully conceptualizes the mycelium’s ability to send chemical signals through its generative, skeletal, and binding branches of tubular threads, known as hyphae, to the realm of human experience. Prepare to immerse yourself in an evocative world of sound and sculpture, where emotions are stirred, and memories are ignited.

The exhibition’s intricate ecology offers a profoundly engaging experience. As you step into the space, you will encounter a series of radiant mushroom sculptures, accompanied by mesmerizing audio scape compositions. The centrepiece of this captivating setting is a single lounger, emitting vibrations that synchronize with the surrounding soundscape. Take a seat and immerse yourself in the profound relationship between humans and the natural world, allowing the frequencies and vibrations to resonate within your body.

Turgeman’s work serves as a conduit, highlighting the growth, adaptability, and symbiosis of this incredible mycorrhizal network. Through tactile sound and visual experiences, willing participants are transported into a meditative realm of contemplation. Within this space, thoughts, emotions, and physical responses intertwine, fostering self-awareness and introspection.

Rooted Signals blur the boundaries between the natural and the technological, the body and its environment. It explores the immense interconnectedness of all things, inviting us to embrace harmonious coexistence. Here, in this ethereal atmosphere, the emanating sounds from living organisms establish an undeniable connection between the organic and the artificial.
