With roots spanning Romania and Hungary, the dynamic duo Abor & Tynna are set to unleash their dazzling sound from Vienna upon the world. They produce most of their tracks in Berlin, making it a natural choice for them to represent Germany at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest (ESC). And what a sensational turn of events it has been: during the finale of the TV selection, which drew a record number of fans, the duo stormed to victory with their track “BALLER.”

Initially, I found myself struggling to grasp the full impact of this song. However, after multiple listens, it’s become clear that “BALLER” is a modern masterpiece—possibly the best entry from Germany in the last decade. With its catchy performance, cutting-edge beats, and an undeniable hook, Abor & Tynna have hit the bullseye.

Abor & Tynna: Germany’s Audacious Entry at ESC with “BALLER”

Since the airing of the finale, the pair has been raking in an astonishing 500,000 daily streams, while simultaneously witnessing a skyrocketing rise across social media platforms and clinching the #1 spot on YouTube’s trending charts. Unleashing straightforward yet impactful lyrics infused with their unique blend of sleek electro and cheeky disco-pop, the siblings deftly sidestep the algorithm that often ensnares other artists, posing audacious questions that resonate with what many are feeling. “We see so many people feeling lost—music gives us the chance to shift our perspective,” Tynna explains. “What’s behind what remains unsaid? What do we truly want, and how do we navigate the pressure?”

Their upbringing shaped their aesthetic; it was more traditional and somewhat stricter compared to others, with late nights at home and limited access to phones, but classical instruments were plenty. What typical teens might resent has become Abor & Tynna’s source of strength: a self-worth rooted in something more substantial than surface-level appearances, granting them the creative freedom necessary for their music. “We celebrate what inspires us in the moment. When the vibes hit, we’re ready to toss everything out the window in the studio, because ignoring a good feeling is never an option.”

The evolution of this duo has been refreshingly organic. “I’ve always had an interest in tech, and through experimentation, I quickly discovered Garage Band. Then came Logic and my first instrumental tracks. At one point, I needed more, and I thought: why not have my sister sing on them?” When their mother casually posted a song online, it didn’t raise eyebrows—nor did it when a producer friend invited them into the studio.

“There was never a grand plan or much excitement—except maybe when the label called. But we approached that with a relaxed mindset. Abor primarily focuses on beats and arrangements, and I handle lyrics, vocals, and inspiration, but the lines are fluid. Above all, we want to keep experimenting and playing live as much and as big as possible—it brings the most dopamine,” Tynna enthuses.

Listeners can experience this evolution track by track on their debut album “Bittersweet,” which resonates with a sense of here and now while infusing a lightness that seems scarce today. But the real thrill awaits at the ESC on May 17 in Basel, as Abor & Tynna set the stage ablaze for Germany with “BALLER.” Expect nothing less than a top 5 hit!
