The Berlin Music Video Awards are back, and the fashion is slaying harder than ever! From futuristic glamour to drag royalty, this year’s nominees are bringing looks that blur the lines between music video magic and runway revolution. If you thought fashion was just about the red carpet, think again! At BMVA, the most jaw-dropping outfits are frozen in the frames of the nominated videos themselves.

The Pink Carpet
Unlike previous editions, which were defined by a darker, more enigmatic atmosphere, this year’s Berlin Music Video Awards embraces a deliberate shift in tone. In the context of ongoing global crises, the festival positions itself as a source of light, an environment designed to offer both relief and a sense of optimism.
The choice of pink is intentional. It functions not only as a visual and symbolic counterpoint to darker aesthetics but also reflects the strong presence and curation of live performances and nominated works from the queer community.
From its early years, the BMVA distinguished itself with the “Glittering Carpet”, a conscious departure from the conventional and often predictable red carpet format. This decision set the tone for what has become a core principle of the festival: originality. Just as filmmakers are expected to push creative boundaries, the BMVA team applies the same standard to the event itself, crafting an experience that stands apart across every layer, from programming to presentation.

The Round Table
BMVA is about more than just the awards. At its core, the festival is a networking event designed to connect creatives from across the music video industry. This year introduces an exciting new addition: the Round Table. It’s an intimate gathering where established professionals, emerging artists, and jury members sit together as equals.
Because making meaningful connections in this industry isn’t easy, and BMVA exists to bring together people from different backgrounds who share the same passion for creating something artistic and unique.

Black, White, and Rebirth
This year’s Best Editor category is a masterclass in star power and style. LISA’s “BORN AGAIN” featuring Doja Cat & RAYE brings dramatic duality to the screen with contrasting black and white ensembles. The black outfits channel funeral elegance, a symbolic death of the old self, while the white looks embody a knight-like rebirth, stronger than ever. It’s not just about matching; each artist’s outfit captures their individual essence while telling a unified story of transformation. This iconic trio proves that when superstars collaborate, the fashion is just as legendary as the music.
Also nominated in Best Editor is Indonesian girl group sensation No Na with “Work” serving revealing, ruffled looks that perfectly complement their choreography. The outfits are cunty, unique, and designed to move, because at BMVA, fashion isn’t static; it dances.

Camp, Queerness, and Rocky Horror Realness
Sabrina Carpenter’s “Tears”, nominated for Best Director, is an unapologetic homage to The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and the fashion reflects every bit of that campy, gender-bending energy. Sabrina kicks things off in a light blue pantsuit that gets dramatically torn away to reveal lingerie. For the dance break, she switches it up with curled hair and purple underwear paired with a ruffly top.

But Sabrina isn’t alone in pushing boundaries. The video features Coleman Domingo in various drag looks, drag queens, drag kings, and aesthetically non-conforming dancers in outfits that defy convention. The outfits include bra pants, crop-top suits complete with ties, and extravagant feathery hats, proving that at BMVA, self-expression isn’t just encouraged; it’s celebrated.
Swedish Pop Mama and Yellow Couture
The Best Cinematography category brings us Agnes and her “Balenciaga Covered Eyes,” a video that can only be described as pure visual audacity. Agnes serves not one, not two, but three distinct yellow looks: a yellow tank top with pants that fold at the zipper like a peeled banana, a long yellow dress jacket, and a statue-like top with a flowy bottom garment. Complete with little cunty glasses, Agnes channels what can only be called Swedish Gaga energy: bold, artistic, and utterly unforgettable.

East Meets Futuristic
Jasmine Sokko’s “Burnout Dynasty” (Best VFX nominee) features Asia-futurist outfits, which are uniquely textured and crafted from lots of different fabrics that create a handmade, post-apocalyptic, cyberpunk feel.

She also wears a unique crown, completing a look that’s edgy, techy, and unlike anything you’ve seen before. It’s a perfect example of how BMVA celebrates cultural heritage while pushing creative boundaries.
The Runway Becomes the Set
Lil Uzi Vert’s “What You Saying,” nominated for Best Art Direction, literally is a fashion show. The video reimagines Uzi as a successful fashion designer, instead of a rapper. The video showcases the spring 2025 Marc Jacobs collection, of experimental, uniquely textured, and big silhouettes that command attention. Uzi brings their signature avant-garde aesthetic to every frame, and the video features none other than Adriana Lima, the longest-running Victoria’s Secret Angel, alongside many other fashion icons. When music videos become fashion shows and fashion legends step into the frame, that’s the BMVA difference.
More Than Just an Awards Show
The Berlin Music Video Awards have always been a space where creativity, diversity, and fearless self-expression take centre stage. It’s a celebration of artistic freedom where individuality isn’t just welcomed, it’s the whole point.
At BMVA, fashion becomes another language of storytelling. It’s about artistic expression, community, and a shared passion for pushing boundaries. Whether you’re there for the awards, the networking, the performances, or simply to witness where music video culture and cutting-edge style collide, BMVA is where creators come together to celebrate the art of the music video in all its forms.
