It’s like the colours come to life and the lights offer us a real show, sometimes an energy that seems to speak.”
“It is wonderful that we humans have the possibility to play in any way we want with colours, with glass, with water, with lights, with camera lenses, and with many other artifices, without limits, truly creating, in the end, an image that sometimes doesn’t need words anymore. For this project, with the help of manipulation of water, glass, colours and lights, I managed to create a unitary composition that in some places dehumanizes the real form of the character in the images. With the help of these small artifices, I tried to bring the shadows, light and colours into a state of digital emulsion. In some places, it seems that the image flows and captures the texture of an oil painting, but at other times the image is clear and accentuates certain details, which makes the discrepancy between the textures even greater.
In this project, I wanted to highlight the extremely easy transition from masculine to feminine. I tried to eliminate gender identification and create a unique beauty, regardless of who you are and what you identify with. Moreover, in each picture, I tried to dehumanize the features of the face and also to offer them another perspective, a perspective seen through water and glass.
It is wonderful to finally come to the conclusion that you can control in any way you want an image that at the beginning is only created in your mind, but you have to believe in the idea. For me, this project started as a photographic experiment, in which to test the limits of handling water, glass, colors, textures, and lights. In the end, I came to the conclusion that art has no limits and you can end up creating a real circus of your imagination, like mine was, a circus of lights and colours!
