A KALTBLUT exclusive. Caecilia is a fashion designer based in Berlin. Her work explores the limits of textiles, bridging the worlds of fashion design, sustainability, psychology and social work. Together with her friend David de Freitas, a junior psychiatrist, she conducted her most recent project last autumn in Brussels, Belgium.
They organised a series of workshops at the psychiatric clinic „Sanatia“, involving fashion designers and psychiatric patients in order to create new pieces together from left over clothes. Their focus lied both in an artistic outcome that is relevant and new in contemporary fashion, as well as in its potential in fighting social alienation of people labeled as “mentally ill”.
„Melting Point“ shows a set of six outfits, a collage that explores the subversive potential of fashion design in order to develop a point of view on our society and its stigmas.
