pop im ausland: The concert series at Club ausland kicks off on May 10 with an exciting lineup

After nine successful years, pia returns to Club ausland for three concert evenings this year. pop im ausland aims to create a space where pop music can showcase itself beyond its conventional forms. It is an open space that does not ignore the fact that we live in politically and socially challenging times. Yet, it invites people to come together, discover new sounds, and share impressions and emotions through music.

Each concert evening in May, September, and November will feature three acts. Kicking off on May 10 are Valery Renay, Wooly Aziz, and YETUNDEY.

Musically, the opening concert promises an exciting mix, ranging from soft post-punk to electronic dreamscapes and captivating hip-hop. Emotional expression is key for all artists involved.

Valerie Renay is a French-Caribbean artist. Besides her work as a director and painter, she is active as a musician and DJ, forming the Electro Art Pop Noir duo Noblesse Oblige with her partner. In her solo project, she explores themes of identity and societal positioning through dark electronic sounds, creating a brutal yet stylized dream realism. Her vision is raw yet carefully choreographed.

Wooly Aziz is a solo project in progressive R&B/Soul/Left-Field by Jannat Sohail from Pakistan. With atmospheric compositions, Wooly Aziz tells stories of love, war, and migration, notably in her new album “Bluelight Moonlight.” Aziz is also active as DJ AZIEZ and was listed in the Alternative Power 100 Music List (2020) for resilience and adaptability.

YETUNDEY is a rapper, singer, producer, songwriter, model, dancer, video director, and fashion designer. Her musical universe spans from energetic electro-rap to introspective orchestral ballads and catchy pop hooks – YETUNDEY refuses to limit herself artistically, much to the delight of her fans. Every release is a surprise package.

The concerts will take place in a darkened room and each act will perform for 30 to 45 minutes. The venue is accessible via stairs. People with limited mobility can contact us in advance for support or inquiries. Detailed accessibility information is available on the ausland website.
